Another spot dance – the steps are again compact with feet usually not more than 30 cm apart. Cuban Motion is used throughout Cha Cha. A more staccato hip movement is characteristic of its styling.
Cha Cha is a true Latin Dance which originated in Cuba where it evolved from danzon, an older form of Cuban dance. It gathers its personality, character, rhythm, basis and charm from two major dance sources – Mambo through its Latin music – it’s also a step-child of the Swing, as it is danced to its “1-2-3, step – step” rhythm.
It’s flirtatious, playful energy is perfect for todays modern music.
It is an “on the beat” dance that you can’t help but inject your own feeling and personality into it. This makes Cha Cha fun for people of all ages. It’s a real “let yourself go” dance! Whether dancing with your partner or going “solo” Cha Cha really allows you to shine.
