Tango is one of the most fascinating of all the Social Ballroom Dances. It is a sensual, passionate, intense, fiery, and often romantic dance! Think of Rudolph Valentino and the Addams family for inspiration.
Interesting, asymmetrical and sophisticated figures add to Tangos appeal.
Often called “the Dancers Dance” Tango spans both the Ballroom and Latin styles moving around the floor with progressive steps following the line of dance – yet, it has flexed knees
with staccato movements that highlight the dramatic look and style of the dance.
Learning Tango is a must as it develops the ability to LEAD and FOLLOW – understand timing and generally gain confidence with all the other Social Dances. Tango is wonderful for Men and Leaders to perfect their partnership and connection skills, while it allows the Ladies and Followers to create lovely leg- lines and fan actions while following their partner with ease!
There are a number of differing thoughts about the origins of Tango …The earliest traces of Tango dating back to the folk dances of Argentina. It was not until after it went to Paris, and then was re-introduced to Argentina, that the Tango and its music were restored to its native style. Tango has stood the test of time and the music is now universal. It continues to be a favourite of Social Ballroom Dancers everywhere!
“It takes two to Tango”…..Claudio Rossi – Tango D’amore….Jeff Steinberg – Valentine’s Dance Tango….The Police – Roxanne….The Pink Panther – movie theme….Ray Anthony – The Peter Gunn theme.
If you can march to the music then you can Tango! Rose between the teeth and you’re set …5, 6, 7, 8 Tango
